Robin Broughton

Dr. Robin Broughton is a professor of Communications and Media studies at West Virginia State University, USA. She holds a Ph.D. in Interpersonal Communication, an MA in Philosophy and a BS in Journalism from Ohio University.  Dr. Broughton teaches graduate courses: Critical Approaches to Media Studies, Media Law, and Information Society, and undergraduate courses: Media Law, Journalism, and New Media. Her research is in the area of media criticism. She presented papers at many conferences, including the International Conference for Social Sciences at Cambridge University in England and at the International Communication Association Conference in Sydney, Australia. Recently, she led a group of graduate students to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where she worked with students and faculty from the University of Sharjah to produce a short narrative film. Her diverse travels with students has taken her to Prague in Czech Republic, Belize in Guatemala, and even on a climb up Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania for a short documentary.  Dr. Broughton has published two books on mountain biking in West Virginia and writes frequently for outdoor magazines. She is a competitive cyclist and triathlete. She lives in Winfield, WV, with her two kids, Tristan (18) and Keatan (16.)
